The MagSafe 2 60W Power Adapter features a magnetic CD connector, so if someone trips on it, the cable will disconnect harmlessly, and your MacBook Pro will still stay securely in place. It also helps prevent wear and tear and weakening of cables over time. Additionally, the magnetic CD helps the connector find its correct position, for a secure and quick connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED indicator located on top of the CD connector lights up; An amber light lets you know your notebook is charging, while a green light indicates a full charge.
